Nancy’s inflatable Stand Up Paddle-board arrived yesterday. It is actually pretty amazing !
The included pump had the SUP up to 15 PSI (~1 Bar) in maybe 5 minutes or a bit more. Once it was pressurized it was rock hard. Grabbing it by the handle is a strange experience because you expect it to be heavy but it is less than 20 pounds and the handle is perfectly balanced so it lifts very easily.
As soon as we had the board inflated Nancy was ready to experiment. We have gotten no real exercise for two and a half months and while Nancy had been doing isometrics neither of us are really in good shape right now. Still, Nancy got out there both yesterday and again today and she hasn’t fallen in yet !
All the dock experts and some nephews keep reminding her of what the S in SUP stands for, but that isn’t slowing her down and she’ll soon be paddling about to her heart’s content while also practicing social distancing.
I suspect Nancy will get a lot of use out of the board and just keeping your balance has to give at least your legs a pretty constant workout. Paddling will obviously help arm strength. I’m beginning to understand why SUPs are so popular here; low impact exercise as you basically walk around the neighborhood on water !
